Issue Position

National defense is the federal government's most important responsibility. We must ensure that America's military remains the greatest force in the world.

North Carolina's second district is the proud home of Pope Air Force Base and Fort Bragg, the home to America's Special Forces, and as your Congressman I will work to ensure the men and women who serve will have the best equipment, support, and medical treatment money can buy.

The United States Constitution gives Congress, not the President, the power to declare war. I will fight to make sure Congress retains that authority.

At a time of heightened national security challenges facing America around the world our military is stretched and underfunded. This cannot continue.

We must properly identify our enemy, protect America's vital interests around the world, budget the money required to maintain the strongest most technologically advanced military on the planet, and protect the homeland and our way of life.

As your Congressman, I will fight for a strong national defense, and ensure that we honor our commitments to our veterans who have served our nation.
